Pete Firman + Rob Rouse Whitby 17-07

July 17th – Pete Firman & Rob Rouse

Hilarity Bites presents an Edinburgh preview show from one of the most requested acts in recent times – along with one of the best UK acts on the UK circuit at present.

Pete Firman

Prepare to be amazed and amused by Britain’s leading comedy magician as he returns to Edinburgh with “the best tricks in the universe”(Independent). After sell-out shows at the festival in 2007/08/09 Pete has established himself as one of Edinburgh’s hottest tickets. Television appearances include ‘Monkey Magic’ (FIVE), ‘Dirty Tricks’ and ‘Derren Brown’s 3D Magic Spectacular’ (Channel4) and ‘For One Night Only’ (ITV1).

Rob Rouse

Star of 8 out of 10 cats, Friday Night Project & Spoons, Rob’s triumphant return to Edinburgh last year won him fantastic critical acclaim. A sell-out festival run, followed by a national tour took his trademark comedic storytelling to a career high. This year Rob is knuckling down. Girlfriend, toddler, dog… check! However, you can’t live off high spirits and adrenaline forever, the honeymoon’s over. Now the hard bit; sorting himself out.

July 24th – Jon Richardson & Kevin Bridges

Hilarity Bites presents Edinburgh preview shows from two of the biggest names on the UK comedy scene, who are no strangers to award nominations for producing some of the best comedy shows in recent years.

Jon Richardson

Last year’s Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee and ‘Have I Got News For You?’ panelist presents a brand new hour of stand-up.

Kevin Bridges

Fringe sell-out and star of BBC One’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow’ and ‘Live at the Apollo’ returns with a brand new show.

July 31st – Andrew Lawrence & Sarah Millican

Hilarity Bites presents Edinburgh preview shows from two of the biggest names on the UK comedy scene, who are no strangers to award nominations for producing some of the best comedy shows in recent years.

Andrew Lawrence

Life’s not fair and the world’s a disgusting place to live.

Andrew Lawrence tries to find some consolation.

Sarah Millican

Star of Live at The Apollo and 2008 IF.com Best Newcomer award winner, Sarah Millican pops in to try out loads of new stuff for her forthcoming Edinburgh show and tour. She will bring jokes if you bring laughs.

The Hut People plus Maia – Live Music Performance

Title: The Hut People plus Maia – Live Music Performance
Location: Whitby Coliseum
Description:

The act that got 2 standing ovations at Musicport 2009: THE HUT PEOPLE
Accordion and percussion but with an unexpected twist.

‘This is about as elclectic a range of music as you ould wish to find: From Finland to Brazil and all stops inbetween, Sam Pirt (the piano box man from the band 422) plays various large accordions – we’re talking 96 and 120 bass here, with cunning switches on top you can nudge with your chin – while Gary Hammond (erstwhile jazzer and member of The Beautiful South) plays all sorts of percussion. And I mean all sorts: never mind the obvious like tambourines, djembes, congers and triangles, this chap also does zambumba, red cyclops, caxixi, static whip and cabasa amongst others.’

plus MAIA
Excellent young acoustic/alternative band from Huddersfield – trumpet, banjo, percussion, guitar and vocals.

Tickets £8 in advance available from The Coliseum or The Port Hole, Skinner Street, Whitby.
