Title: The Hut People plus Maia – Live Music Performance
Location: Whitby Coliseum
Description:

The act that got 2 standing ovations at Musicport 2009: THE HUT PEOPLE
Accordion and percussion but with an unexpected twist.
‘This is about as elclectic a range of music as you ould wish to find: From Finland to Brazil and all stops inbetween, Sam Pirt (the piano box man from the band 422) plays various large accordions – we’re talking 96 and 120 bass here, with cunning switches on top you can nudge with your chin – while Gary Hammond (erstwhile jazzer and member of The Beautiful South) plays all sorts of percussion. And I mean all sorts: never mind the obvious like tambourines, djembes, congers and triangles, this chap also does zambumba, red cyclops, caxixi, static whip and cabasa amongst others.’
plus MAIA
Excellent young acoustic/alternative band from Huddersfield – trumpet, banjo, percussion, guitar and vocals.
